We are delighted that on 10th June 2025 we turned 2 years old! On that day we released our initial 24 month impacts- which you can read here- https://www.brawtea.co.uk/impact
In short:
- we now employ 16 women who work at the cafe as p/t baristas, front of house and kitchen staff!
- At time of writing (June 2025) 70 women have completed their Food Hygiene Training and gained a qualification. This is funded by Braw Tea directly.
- 14 other women got jobs with other employers thanks to our supportive training and live experience
- 8 women went on to college and university
- 11 women took part in our employability programme which is supported and delivered by Robertson Construction. Of those 7 women have gained jobs so far.
- 12 women have now been supported through our mental health wellbeing programme either in our 6 week Behaviour Change programme or through individual professional independent counselling. This programme is kindly supported by NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation and all the women have rated the programme 10/10.
- Our environmental credentials- we avoid food waste by using Too Good to Go each Monday ( where our excess food is sold at a 1/3 of the cost to customers) or given away to our volunteers and staff and we use Fare Share fruit and veg in our savouries and bakes. We have saved 364 trays of fruit and veg that would have otherwise gone to waste and 322 meals- preventing 869 kg of estimated CO2 emissions
- We had a party for our volunteers and supporters to say thank you and made free cookies to give away to our customers. The Lord Provost, Bill Campbell kindly came to join us to say a few words of encouragement.
- THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS US- not only as customers, but as supporters with resources, time, professional guidance and expertise and financial support. We have been incredibly humbled by the community we have created within and around Braw Tea.
