Braw Tea is a social enterprise. We make and sell truly delicious home cooked food and coffee in the unbeatable location of Castle Green, Broughty Ferry. Our purpose is to help support women from all walks of life through training, live experience of working in a cafe, friendship and confidence building and all the profits of the cafe go towards this.
We are not a food-bank- our food is professional standard using the best quality ingredients , made from scratch using seasonal and local ingredients and priced fairly.
We provide on-the-job training and personal development for women who have additional challenges in their lives. Through training as a barista, in food preparation and handling and customer service our trainees gain experience in all aspects of running a busy cafe. They can put the skills and confidence gained to use as a stepping stone to further education or paid employment.
We try our best to do what's right whether it's with our suppliers, packaging or food recycling. Our coffee comes from family business, Modern Standard in Fife who source it directly from producers, paying a fair price. Everything is recycled. Any unsold food is given to our volunteers, or is recycled. We buy locally where possible and seasonally. Our suppliers are the best quality Scottish producers rather than big corporate brands. We have also joined www.toogoodtogo.com to make sure we don't waste any food at the end of our service by selling the left over fresh food at a fraction of the cost.
